British pathways
A British academic pathway designed to turn your child’s ability into future opportunity.
Bridgecombe builds the route around your child’s real ability, current stage and future ambitions, rather than placing them into a predetermined class sequence.
From strong secondary foundations through GCSE, International GCSE and A Level to university preparation, every decision is connected. Subjects, starting level, pace, language support, qualifications and future goals are shaped into one ambitious pathway.

Clear routes for learners around the world
Different starting points. Different destinations. The same high standard.
Complete British Academic Pathway
For internationally mobile and globally based families seeking a coherent British academic programme built around the individual learner.
The pathway connects KS3 foundations, GCSE or International GCSE preparation, A Level study, English development, examination planning and university preparation within one carefully managed programme.
It may particularly suit families moving between countries, learners who need greater flexibility and families seeking a more individual alternative to a fixed class timetable.
GCSE and International GCSE Pathway
For learners who wish to prepare for internationally recognised British qualifications through a carefully planned academic route.
Bridgecombe assesses the learner’s current level, guides subject, qualification and exam-board selection, and prepares them through structured teaching, diagnostic and mock assessment, revision planning and private-candidate preparation.
The purpose is not simply to enter examinations. It is to build a credible route from the learner’s present position towards advanced study and future university opportunity.
A Level and University Pathway
For learners ready to pursue advanced British qualifications and ambitious international university progression.
Bridgecombe connects subject selection, exam-board planning, advanced teaching, academic English development, revision preparation and UCAS or international university applications. Every subject choice is considered in relation to what it may make possible next.
The pathway is designed to develop the depth, discipline, independence and academic confidence required for demanding examinations and ambitious university progression.
Art, Design and Portfolio Pathway

For learners seeking specialist GCSE, International GCSE or A Level Art and Design preparation, portfolio development or progression towards university and art school.
Support spans Fine Art, Graphic Communication, Photography and Three-dimensional Design, from project planning and contextual research through portfolio development to university and art-school applications.
The pathway is led by direct specialist experience. Bridgecombe co-founder Martin Lungley is a Royal College of Art graduate, a former British university admissions tutor and an experienced GCSE and A Level Art and Design educator. Former students taught by Martin have received six Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards in Art and Design, including two Highest Mark in the World awards at GCSE level.
Strong creative work is not produced by completing disconnected tasks. It grows through a carefully directed process of investigation, experimentation, refinement and personal decision-making.
One personalised model
The pathway changes according to the learner, not the other way around.

Every decision connected to the destination
A strong qualification pathway is designed, taught and managed strategically.
Bridgecombe does more than suggest possible examinations. For qualification-stage learners we manage subject combinations, exam-board and specification choices, preparation timelines, diagnostic and mock cycles, coursework and portfolio planning where relevant, revision and private-candidate requirements, including examination-centre research and deadline tracking.
Where possible, Bridgecombe identifies suitable examination centres and supports families with private-candidate entry. Practical requirements are checked before any route is confirmed, and formal entry remains subject to the requirements and final agreement of an authorised centre.
The aim is not simply to enter an examination. It is to create the strongest possible route through it and towards what comes next.
Strong choices now create stronger choices later
Your child’s pathway should expand their future, not narrow it.
Bridgecombe connects present learning to longer-term academic opportunity: choosing GCSE and A Level subjects with future study in mind, exploring university courses and destinations, preparing UCAS and international applications, and developing portfolios and interview confidence where relevant.
This guidance is informed by direct experience of British higher education, including teaching at undergraduate and master’s level, serving as an admissions tutor and founding and leading an undergraduate degree through institutional approval and delivery.
We do not expect learners to decide their whole future too early. We help families make each important choice with greater clarity, confidence and ambition.
Bridgecombe provides international academic programmes and supports learners towards externally awarded qualifications. It does not provide Chinese school registration, recognised mainland school status or a Chinese high-school diploma. Full eligibility guidance is available in Admissions.
