Founder-led from the beginning
Your child’s Bridgecombe pathway is personally led by the people who built it.
Martin and Jhuriza Lungley are international educators with more than 40 years of combined experience across academic leadership, English, EAL and multilingual learning, curriculum, assessment, British higher education and responsible AI adoption.
They do not sit above the programme as distant figureheads. They design pathways, guide learners, interpret progress and remain closely involved in the important academic decisions shaping each learner’s Bridgecombe pathway.
40+ years’ combined experience · British higher education · Multilingual learning and EAL · Founder-led academic direction

Built first for our own children
Bridgecombe began when a professional question became personal.
For more than two decades each, we worked within high-quality international education. We saw the ambition, expertise, community and opportunity that excellent schools can provide.
We also saw a limitation that remains even when teachers are exceptional. In a normal-sized class, one educator must divide their attention and move the group through a shared timetable. One child may need more time or a different explanation. Another may be ready for greater challenge. A third may understand the idea but struggle with the academic English through which it is taught.
As we considered the next stage of education for our own children, those professional questions arrived at our kitchen table. We wanted to preserve academic quality, high expectations, meaningful assessment and credible routes through British qualifications, within an education that could respond far more closely to the learner.
What could education become if the strengths of an excellent academic system were retained, while far more of the teaching, evidence and decision-making were organised around the individual learner?
AI made patient, responsive and multilingual teaching available whenever the learner needed it. But technology could never replace academic direction, professional judgement or a deep understanding of the child.
Bridgecombe grew from bringing those two forces together: intelligent individual teaching and experienced human leadership.
A child should not have to become the average learner in order to fit the education available.
Co-founder and Academic Pathway Director
Academic systems, ambitious pathways and responsible innovation.
Martin’s career spans British higher education, international-school teaching, whole-school academic leadership, curriculum, assessment, accreditation and responsible AI adoption.
He has taught at undergraduate and master’s level, served as admissions tutor for a master’s programme, and founded and led an undergraduate degree through institutional approval and delivery.
In international education, he progressed from EAL leadership to whole-school Academic Director, overseeing curriculum, assessment, academic standards, staff development, admissions, student progress and quality assurance. He also helped lead a school through successful international accreditation.
Martin holds an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art and a First-Class bachelor’s degree. His published research explored reading motivation, achievement, learner confidence and wider academic performance. Former Art and Design students taught by Martin have received six Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards, including two Highest Mark in the World awards at GCSE level.
At Bridgecombe, Martin leads pathway design, curriculum quality and assessment, examination planning, university direction and the design of the AI subject coaches. His role is to ensure that personalisation never means a loss of academic ambition or direction.

Co-founder and Lead Learner Educator
Language, confidence and a learner who feels genuinely known.
Jhuriza has spent more than 20 years helping multilingual learners develop the English, confidence and academic skills needed to succeed in English-medium education.
Her experience extends from early primary language learning to secondary examination classes, including KS3 English and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE English as a Second Language.
At the heart of her work is the ability to build strong rapport with individual learners. She creates calm, trusting relationships in which children feel able to ask questions, admit uncertainty, take academic risks and keep going when learning becomes difficult.
Jhuriza understands that progress often depends on more than the next task. A learner may need encouragement, a clearer explanation, more time, a different approach or simply the confidence that a trusted educator is paying close attention.
At Bridgecombe, Jhuriza leads much of the daily learner experience: individual guidance and pastoral support, English and multilingual learning, reading and writing, the small-cohort community and regular communication with families.
Her strength is making each learner feel known, supported and capable, while helping them move towards greater confidence, independence and academic success.

Speak directly with the educators leading the pathway.
Founder-led is not a label. It means the educators who created the model remain personally involved in making it work for your child.
Tell us about your child and what you believe their education could make possible. We will listen carefully, then explain how Bridgecombe could take the academic lead and build a personal British pathway around them.
