Complete British Academic Pathway for Foreign-National Learners
For eligible foreign-national learners whose nationality, residence and local circumstances permit them to follow an online international pathway.
Post-Compulsory GCSE and International GCSE Pathway
For eligible Chinese-national learners who have completed the nine-year compulsory-education stage and wish to pursue an international qualification route.
Post-Compulsory A Level and University Pathway
For eligible Chinese-national learners who have completed compulsory education, and eligible foreign-national learners, seeking advanced British qualifications and international university progression.
Art, Design and Portfolio Pathway
For eligible learners seeking specialist GCSE, International GCSE or A Level Art and Design preparation, portfolio development or progression towards university and art school.
Multilingual support, flexible scheduling and focused subject priorities can be built into each eligible pathway according to the learner’s needs.
A careful process without unnecessary complexity
We begin with a conversation, not an application form.
1. Enquiry
Tell us briefly about your child, their nationality, age, current education and what your family is looking for.
2. Family conversation
Meet directly with the founders to discuss your child’s strengths, needs, interests, language profile, timetable and future direction.
3. Learning review
With the family’s consent, we review relevant school reports, assessment information and examples of current work. A diagnostic activity may be recommended where it would help us understand the learner more accurately.
4. Proposed pathway
Bridgecombe prepares a clear recommendation covering subjects, level, pace, timetable, support, priorities and likely next steps.
The recommendation also identifies any eligibility, examination-centre or practical conditions that must be resolved before enrolment.
5. Agreement and setup
Once eligibility and the pathway are confirmed, we organise the managed digital environment, learning access, communication arrangements and initial academic plan.
6. Start
The learner begins with clear priorities, daily guidance and a pathway that can develop as new evidence emerges.
The purpose of admissions is not simply to decide whether a place is available. It is to determine what kind of education will help the learner move forward.

Depending on the agreed pathway, the Bridgecombe programme includes:
Personal Academic Pathway
Curriculum, subjects, level, pace, timetable, multilingual support and future goals planned around the individual learner within the agreed pathway.
Daily individual guidance
Every learner or family receives a focused 30-minute individual guidance session on each planned learning day. Depending on need, it may be with the learner, a parent or both together.
Daily community learning
A 45-minute small-community session on each planned learning day, providing discussion, connection and shared academic experience.
Purpose-built AI subject coaches
Age-appropriate access to Bridgecombe’s original multilingual subject coaches within a managed digital environment.
Family communication and reporting
Daily learning updates, weekly summaries, planned diagnostics and detailed progress reports.
Qualification and future-study planning
Guidance on subject choices, exam boards, examination preparation, externally awarded British qualifications and progression towards university.
Additional personal support
Practical, academic and technical help when needed, with Bridgecombe providing a high level of practical support for each learner and family.
Places are deliberately limited. Each Bridgecombe educator typically supports only four to six learners, allowing decisions, feedback and relationships to remain genuinely personal.
The programme remains small because close knowledge of the learner is central to how Bridgecombe works.
Clear information before your family decides
Each pathway is personal, so each proposal begins with the learner.
Fees are discussed following the initial family consultation and depend on factors including:
- the learner’s academic stage
- the pathway selected
- the number, type and level of subjects included
- the level of teaching and support required
Families receive a clear proposed pathway and fee before making a commitment.
Start dates and availability are confirmed individually because Bridgecombe maintains a deliberately limited number of places.
Learners require:
- a suitable computer and/or tablet; access to both is beneficial for quizzes, tests and interactive learning
- reliable internet access
- a camera and microphone for live guidance
- a suitable place for focused learning
Bridgecombe organises and administers the agreed AI accounts, meeting access, communication tools and selected learning platforms.
Examination arrangements depend on the qualification, exam board, subject, location and availability of an appropriate private-candidate centre. These practical requirements are reviewed with each family before an examination pathway is confirmed.
Formal entry is made by the authorised examination centre, and no centre is required to accept a private candidate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can my child learn through their strongest language?
Yes.
Bridgecombe’s multilingual subject coaches can explain difficult concepts, terminology and questions through the learner’s mother tongue or strongest language while continuing to introduce and develop British curriculum English.
Multilingual support opens access to demanding learning. It does not lower academic expectations. The long-term aim is confident English-medium independence appropriate to the learner’s qualification and future-study pathway.
Can the pathway give additional attention to particular subjects?
Yes.
Each eligible Bridgecombe pathway is personalised. Particular subjects can receive greater attention according to the learner’s current level, qualification plans, strengths and future goals.
These priorities are managed within the agreed academic pathway rather than offered as disconnected tutoring sessions.
How flexible is the timetable?
The timetable can be designed around the learner rather than a conventional school day.
This may include family travel, sporting commitments, creative training, health needs or other serious areas of focus. Flexibility is organised around agreed learning expectations, daily individual guidance and Bridgecombe’s small-community sessions.
A flexible timetable does not mean an unstructured education. The pathway remains planned, monitored and academically purposeful.
How involved do parents need to be?
Families choose how closely they wish to participate.
Some parents want to take an active role in planning and regular decision-making. Others prefer Bridgecombe to take the practical academic lead while they remain clearly informed through daily updates, weekly summaries, reports and scheduled discussions.
Bridgecombe can direct daily learning, interpret evidence and manage the wider pathway. Parents do not need to become the teacher, marker or curriculum designer.
How are examinations arranged?
Bridgecombe supports qualification planning, exam-board selection, curriculum coverage, examination preparation and private-candidate arrangements where possible.
Formal examinations are taken through an authorised examination centre. Centre availability, accepted exam boards, available subjects, entry deadlines and associated fees vary by location and must be confirmed individually.
The authorised examination centre makes the formal entry and determines whether it can accept the learner for the relevant qualification and subject.
Bridgecombe will explain the available route before a qualification pathway is agreed, but final entry remains subject to examination-centre acceptance and availability.
Who does Bridgecombe serve in mainland China?
Bridgecombe may be suitable principally for:
- foreign-national learners and their families whose nationality, residence and local circumstances permit them to follow an online international pathway; and
- eligible Chinese-national learners who have completed the nine-year compulsory-education stage and wish to pursue a GCSE, International GCSE, A Level or university pathway.
Completion of the nine-year compulsory-education stage does not by itself confirm eligibility. Each learner’s nationality, age, residence, current education, intended qualification route and local circumstances are considered before enrolment.
Bridgecombe provides British and international academic programmes and supports learners towards externally awarded qualifications. It does not provide Chinese school registration, recognised mainland school status, Chinese senior-secondary student status or a Chinese high-school diploma.
Families remain responsible for confirming any local legal, education, residence and documentation requirements that apply to their circumstances.
